Door Handle Spring Heavy Metal – Set of 2 (P4) for Flush Door Locks

A flush door handle (the flat type that sits inside the door) has a small torsion spring inside it. That spring is what pushes the handle back up after you press it down. When it snaps, the handle hangs loose and the door stops latching properly. You do not need to replace the whole handle. A door handle spring repair kit is enough, and this pack gives you two springs.

Which locks the P4 size fits

P4 is the heavy-duty size. The wire is thicker than P1, P2 and P3, so it suits handles that get pressed many times a day. It fits most standard modular flush door locks sold in India. If your old spring is visibly thinner, take the P1, P2 or P3 size instead. If your lock uses a circlip, order the circlip version.

How to replace the spring

1. Unscrew the handle plate from the inside of the door. Two screws free it on most locks.
2. Lift out the broken spring. Note which way the legs curl, because the new one goes in the same way.
3. Hook the new spring into the same position and screw the plate back.
4. Press the handle ten to fifteen times. It should spring back on its own every time.

If the handle still feels loose after that, the spring size is wrong, not the fitting.

Why these springs break

Every press of the handle twists the spring a little. After a few thousand presses the metal gets tired and cracks near the bend. Cheap springs go sooner because the wire is thinner. This one is the heavy-metal version, with thicker wire, so it outlasts the standard spring on a busy door.

Do I get one spring or two?

Two. The pack has 2 pieces, so you can keep one as a spare for another door in the house.

How do I know if my lock needs P4?

Compare the old spring against the photos, or measure its length and wire thickness. P4 is the heavy-duty size with thicker wire. If you are unsure, send us a photo through the contact page and we will tell you which size to order.

Will it fit both sides of the door?

Yes. The same spring works on the left and the right handle of most flush locks.

The handle is loose but the spring looks fine. What else could it be?

Usually the screws holding the handle plate have come loose, or the square spindle has worn out. Check those before you order a spring.
